ORLANDO, Fla. — A 28-year-old man was found dead Thursday morning at Walt Disney World’s Contemporary Resort, marking the third death reported at the Florida theme park in less than two weeks — and the second at the same hotel.

Authorities have identified the deceased as Matthew Cohn, who was believed to be staying at the resort, according to the Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office. Officials confirmed that the circumstances surrounding his death remain under active investigation.

Guests staying at Bay Lake Tower, which is part of the Contemporary Resort complex, described a heavy police presence early Thursday. A viral TikTok video posted that morning showed a section of the tower cordoned off with yellow caution tape as officers and emergency personnel stood nearby.

“We woke up to a VERY large law enforcement presence outside our balcony this morning at Disney’s Bay Lake Tower,” the caption read. “We were told it was a medical emergency. Prayers to the family and those involved.”

This latest incident follows the October 14 death of 31-year-old Summer Equitz, who reportedly died by suicide at the same resort.

Just two days before Cohn’s death, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that a man in his 60s suffered a medical episode at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground and was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

And earlier this month, tragedy struck across the country when a woman in her 60s became unresponsive while riding the Haunted Mansion attraction at Disneyland in California. She was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Disney has not issued an official statement regarding the recent string of incidents. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate Thursday’s death.
