“Married to Medicine: Los Angeles” personality Lia Jones has taken legal steps to change the custody arrangement for her children following her contentious divorce from former husband Colin Dias.

According to newly filed court documents obtained by TMZ, Jones is requesting a judge to grant a 50/50 legal and physical custody agreement. Under the current divorce settlement, Dias was awarded sole legal and physical custody of the couple’s two children.

In the filing, Jones states that while Dias continues to provide financial support for their children, she believes their emotional needs are not being fully addressed. She also describes her relationship with the children as loving and supportive, adding that their bond has grown stronger over time.

Jones claims Dias relocated with the children to Lake Elsinore, California, which she says has made it more difficult for her to spend time with them. Despite the distance, she says she regularly drives a four-hour round trip from Los Angeles several times a week to visit them.

The original custody arrangement followed a difficult divorce that included a restraining order. As part of the court’s conditions, Jones was required to complete a year without further legal issues before seeking expanded access to her children.

In the new court documents, Jones says she has completed a 52-week domestic violence intervention program, participated in therapy, and attended parenting and anger-management classes. After three years of supervised visitation, she is now asking the court to modify the custody agreement to allow her more time with the children.

A judge has ordered both parties to attend mediation to address the custody dispute. A hearing on Jones’ request is scheduled for May.
