A memorial outside the Lake Elsinore home of Celeste Rivas continues to expand as new developments emerge in the ongoing investigation into the teen’s death, Us Weekly has learned.
Photos obtained by Us show dozens of stuffed animals, flowers and prayer candles arranged along a chain-link fence outside the home where Rivas, 15, once lived with her family. A large poster reading “Justice for Celeste Rivas” is fastened to the fence, surrounded by Minnie Mouse and Hello Kitty plush toys. Neighborhood residents continue to stop by, adding more candles to the street where a vigil was held in September.
Rivas was found dead on September 8, 2025, inside the Tesla belonging to musician D4vd (20), legal name David Anthony Burke. The vehicle had been abandoned near a Hollywood rental property where the singer was staying, according to law enforcement.
Investigation Surrounding D4vd
Rivas had reportedly been spending time with Burke prior to her death. When contacted by TMZ last year, Rivas’ mother said her daughter had a boyfriend named “David.”
The discovery of the body led to an immediate halt in D4vd’s career activities. His remaining tour dates were canceled, and Interscope Records pulled promotional plans for the deluxe edition of his album Withered, originally scheduled for mid-September. D4vd rose to mainstream success with his 2022 breakout track “Romantic Homicide.”
In September, LAPD investigators searched Burke’s Hollywood rental home, seizing a computer and several other items.
Cause of Death Remains Undetermined
On September 29, Rivas’ death certificate listed her cause of death as “pending” due to ongoing toxicology testing. Officials confirmed that she was not pregnant at the time.
However, new information reported by TMZ on November 22 suggested that the case could remain unresolved indefinitely. According to the outlet, Rivas’ body had been dismembered, partially frozen and decapitated. The Tesla was taken to a tow yard after neighbors complained about a foul smell, where her remains were discovered.
While toxicology testing reportedly offered no clear answers, the condition of the remains has prompted investigators to treat the case as a possible homicide, TMZ reported. Sources also told the outlet that Burke had made a trip to a remote area in Santa Barbara County earlier in the year, staying there for several hours.
A law-enforcement source later told NBC4 that Burke “has not been cooperative in the investigation.”
No Charges Filed
D4vd has not publicly commented, but has retained well-known criminal defense attorney Blair Berk, whose previous clients include Mel Gibson, Lindsay Lohan and Harvey Weinstein. Us has contacted Berk for comment.
The LAPD stated only:
“This is an ongoing investigation and detectives are not making any comments.”
No arrests have been made.
